Tiffin is a city of approximately 1,500, located in Johnson County in southeast Iowa. It is considered part of the Iowa City metropolitan area. F. W. Kent County Park is located just west of Tiffin, and is a popular site for outdoor recreation in Johnson County, especially being noted for its lake, camping facilities, resident whitetail deer herd and wild turkeys, and its cross-country ski trails that traverse through rolling acres of old oak and hickory forest. Tiffin is mainly an agricultural city and is called "The Crossroads of the Heartland." The annual Tiffin Fest is held each July and features amusement rides, a parade, live music, food vendors and lots of fun for the whole family. Nearby Iowa City offers many attractions for those visiting the Tiffin area. The Old Capitol Building is a major landmark along with the Iowa Avenue Literary Walk, which includes a series of bronze relief panels that feature 49 authors words that all have ties to Iowa. Iowa City is home to a nationally recognized jazz festival, free concerts and open-air summer movies. Other attractions near Tiffin include Hickory Hill Park, which consists of 190 acres of forest, reconstructed prairie, wetlands, and parkland available to hikers, dog walkers, cross-country skiers, sledders, and picnickers.
